Happenings in and near Johnson City
Thursday, August 16, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, The Comet reported several short news accounts of interest to local readers. There were a few advertisements published among the news accounts, as well. Some of each follow: “W. A. Dickinson spent Tuesday in Bristol.”
“All kinds of hardware at The Bee Hive.”
The Bee Hive was a popular department and hardware store; the name can still be seen, etched in concrete, on East Market Street in Johnson City.
“Berney Burleson and wife visited Bristol a few days last week.”
“Apple and peach parers at The Bee Hive.”
