Thursday, June 6, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, the Herald and Tribune reported several short news accounts; there were several short advertisements sprinkled within the news accounts. Several of each follow: “W. P. Reaves spent Sunday in this place.”

“Shirts of all kinds cheap at J. C. Britton.”

“Judge Kirkpatrick came down from Unaka Monday.”

Unaka could possibly refer Unaka Springs, which is in Unicoi County.

“W. B. Page, of Bristol, was in this place last Friday.”

“Highest market price paid for wool at R. M. May & Son.”

“Evaporated apples 5 cents per pound at Fink & Hinkey.”
