Mr. Pouder, the stolen sedan, a prayer, the Writer's Roundup and much more
Wednesday, February 6, 1901: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, The Knoxville Sentinel reported news with a dateline from Jonesboro, which was spelled that way at the time. “During the month of January the collections and deliveries made by the rural mail carriers for this place showed an actual gain over December of 4,385 pieces of mail. February may show an increase over that of January. Free delivery is a most popular institution. Those who found it so bitterly when it was first proposed are now advocating its merits.”
