Wednesday, March 14, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, the Herald and Tribune reported several news accounts of interest to local citizens; there were several advertisements mixed with the news accounts, as well. Some of each follow: “About five o’clock Monday afternoon fire broke out among the buildings connected with the furnace at Embreville, and before it was under control had destroyed the machine shop, foundry, carpenter shop, our shed, supply house, pattern house and blacksmith shop. The fire caught from the coke oven, and as all the buildings were of wood the progress of the flames was rapid.
