Saturday, May 30, 1925: A century ago today, the Johnson City Chronicle reported that “Patrons of the Majestic Theatre enjoyed Friday night an epilogue to the artful picture, ‘The Beauty Prize,’ starring Viola Dana, when a replica of the ‘Cross-Word Puzzle’ bathing suit worn by Miss Dana, was presented o (sic for to) the holder of the lucky number, Mrs. Glenn Setzer. At the close of the picture showing, a box containing duplicate numbers of tickets held by patrons was opened on the stage, and the drawing took place.

“The suit, donated by the Frank Miller Company and presented through the Majestic management, is one of the popular Bradley styles featured this season.

“Viola Dana in ‘The Beauty Prize’ presents a splendid bit of acting, in a pleasing plot. A splendid comedy rounded out the Majestic program.”
