Wednesday, April 25, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, the Knoxville Sentinel reported several short news items, all with datelines from Johnson City. Readers learned that “A broken car wheel caused a small wreck on the Cranberry railroad. Two cars were derailed and other damage done to the rolling stock of the incoming trails due here at 4 p. m. It seems that at one of the sharp curves a wheel was wrenched from its axle. The same thing occurred there once before, not long since.
