Happenings near and far from Jonesboro
Wednesday, August 1, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, the Herald and Tribune published several short news accounts, as well as advertisements. Some of each follow: “Thad A. Cox, P. H. Wofford and G. C. Hale, Election Commissioners, will meet in the court house (sic for courthouse) on Monday, August 5, to compile the returns of the August election. All returns must be in the hands of the Commissioners not later than 12 o’clock (moon) on said day.”
