Wednesday, January 24, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, The Knoxville Sentinel reported news with a dateline from Johnson City. “An aged man, Peter White, was seriously injured late yesterday evening by a switch engine of the Southern railway (sic for Railway). The old man was knocked from a culvert, near the steam tannery, and fell into the creek. He was badly hurt.
