Wednesday, April 10, 1901: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, The Knoxville Weekly Sentinel reported news with a dateline from Johnson City and a date of April 9. Readers learned that “C. W. Sparitz, one of the proprietors of the Star restaurant, has mysteriously disappeared from the city, and his whereabouts are unknown, unless he has returned to Virginia, whence he came to this town.”
