Tuesday, May 1, 1900: A century and twenty-five years ago today, the Knoxville Sentinel reported news with a dateline from Johnson City. Readers were informed of the happy news that “Mr. Hawes Keebler and Miss Daisy M. Hale will be wedded tonight, at the home of Miss Hale’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cicero Hale. The wedding will be a quiet at home affair, after which Mr. Keebler and his bride will leave for their future home, Cranberry, N. C.

“Miss Hale is one of Johnson City’s most popular young ladies, and Mr. Keebler is a prominent business young man, being electrician for the company operating the magnetic iron ore mines at Cranberry.”
