Sunday, May 20, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, The Chattanooga Sunday Times reported several short news items with a dateline from Johnson City; the date was May 19. Readers learned that “Mr. and Mrs. Mel H. Weller were in Knoxville Wednesday.”

“W. F. Jones is home from North Carolina on a visit to his family.”

“John Landreth is slightly improved from his recent illness.”

“Mrs. Geo. T. Wofford left Wednesday for Corinth, Miss., to visit relatives.”

“Mrs. Mary J. Berry went to Bristol on Thursday to visit her daughter, Mrs. J. M. Hobson.”
