A society wedding, the honor roll and more
Tuesday, April 21, 1925: One hundred years ago today, the Johnson City Chronicle reported that “The breaking loose of the sprinkler system at the Tennessee Hosiery Mills in the Carnegie addition caused the turning in of a firm alarm Sunday night about nine o’clock. Fire companies Nos. 1 and 2 answered the alarm but found that nothing awaited them except a good drenching coming back in the pouring rain. It is thought that a strike of lightning probably caused the sprinkler system to break loose.”
