Saturday, May 26, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, the Knoxville Journal and Tribune reported news with a dateline from Johnson City and a date of May 25. Readers learned that happy news that “Mr. and Mrs. Cyrus Elmendorf celebrated their fiftieth wedding anniversary yesterday at their elegant home on Watauga avenue (sic for Avenue). They were married fifty years ago at Hunter, Greene County, New York. Mrs. Elmendorf is a sister of General John T. Wilder, who was present at the celebration. An enjoyable time was had by the pleasant old couple.
