Tuesday, July 21, 1925: A century ago today, the Johnson City Chronicle reported that “The birth date of the opening of the John Sevier hotel (sic for Hotel) is to be observed on August 6th next (month). The formal opening to the public of the popular hostelry was made on August 5th, 1924, since which time it has done an increasing business, and has also directed much travel to and through Johnson City.
