Happenings around Johnson City
Tuesday, June 2, 1925: A century ago today, the Johnson City Chronicle reported several short news items about residents near or around the Johnson City area. Some of these were as follows: “Miss Janet Wallace, technician at the Appalachian hospital (sic for Hospital), and Mrs. M. W. Lively are planning a most delightful two months’ vacation trip to Europe. They will sail from New York on the third of July on the S. S. Majestic, and plan to visit England, France, Germany, Switzerland, Holland and Belgium.”
“Mrs. Belmont Collette, Mrs. Chas. D. Tate, and Miss Mayme Starnes have issued invitation for Saturday afternoon, the sixth of June, between the hours of three and five o’clock, the affair will be given in special compliment to Miss Edna Anna Cox, of Fort Blackmore, Virginia, at the home of Mrs. Tate, 315 West Locust street (sic).”
“Mr. and Mrs. L. R. Driver, of West Locust street (sic), are being congratulated over the arrival of a son, Sunday, the thirty-first of May.”
