Thursday, October 18, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, The Comet reported news about King’s Mountain. Readers were informed that “The celebration at the Sycamore Shoals Tuesday, Sept. 25th, was a grand success. The day was perfect, and the people appreciating this fact, flocked from all points of the compass to participate in the patriotic commemoration of the 120th anniversary of the assembling of the heroes of King’s Mountain upon this historic spot. The crowd which assembled upon the ground was estimated at one thousand people.
