Thursday, August 23, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, The Comet reported several short news items, as well as a lengthy story about a rattlesnake. Some of them follow: “W. S. Mitchell returned last Friday from a week’s visit at Huntdale, N. C.”
Huntdale, North Carolina is about 29 miles from Johnson City. It is located almost due south of Johnson City.
“Miss Ida Parsons, of Chattanooga, is the guest of Mr. and Mrs. J. A. Parsons.”
“Harry Parrott, wife and baby, have returned from a trip to Virginia relatives.”
“Walter Henderson, of New York, spent Monday with homefolks in the city.”
“Mrs. McElroy, of Stubenville (sic for Steubenville) , Ohio, is visiting her daughter, Mrs. Newton Boring.”
“Dr. Pendleton was down from Unicoi Tuesday.”
