Ike T. Jobe's troubles continue, a loss for Science Hill
Thursday, February 8, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, The Comet reported continuing news about former Johnson City Mayor Ike T. Jobe. Readers read that “Luther M. Parker returned yesterday from Cincinnati, where he, in company with Postoffice (sic for Post Office) Inspector F. M. Betz, had gone with Captain Ike T. Jobe.
“Mr. Parker turned Captain Jobe over to the Ohio authorities at Cincinnati, and he was presented in the United States court before Judge Thompson, who ordered him taken to the Miami county (sic for County) jail at Troy for confinement. He says that Capt. Jobe was still hopeful of securing bond and still more hopeful of his ultimate release.
