Thursday, May 10, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, The Comet reported several short news items of interest to local readers. Some of these items follow: “Prof. Raphael Koester, musical director of the Southwest Virginia Institute, will teach a summer class in instrumental and vocal music in Johnson City beginning May 24. Terms $5.00 (8 lessons). For further information address Prof. Koester, Bristol, Va.”
