Lots of gatherings in The Comet
Thursday, August 30, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, The Comet, which was published in Johnson City every Thursday, reported several short news stories. Some of them are as follows: “A long wagon load of little people enjoyed a rollicking hay ride last Friday afternoon. The line of march covered the city like a blanket, and the little ones were in the merriest mood imaginable. They were the children of Mr. and Mrs. H. Gildersleeve, Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Barrow, Mr. and Mrs. E. T. Hart and some others whose names we could not get.”
