Thursday, January 31, 1901: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, The Comet reported several short news items of interest to local readers. Some of them were as follows: “Romeo Russell was up from Jonesboro Friday.”

Jonesboro was spelled that way at the time.

“J. E. Brading was down from Bristol Friday on business.”

“Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Sitto are greatly pleased with their new boy.”
