Thursday, February 22, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, The Comet reported several short news accounts of interest to readers. Some of the information was as follows: “H. R. Parrott is at home with the grip.”
We now call “the grip” influenza.
“T. L. Earnest is confined at home with the grip.”
“Mrs. Geo. Sells, of Bristol, is visiting Mrs. E. C. Crumley.”
“Mrs. Josie Hughes is spending a week visiting relatives in Virginia.”
“Miss Rowena Holson, of Bristol, is visiting relatives in the city.”
“Tom Linville is again able to be at work after an attack of the grip.”
