Thursday, March 22, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, The Comet reported that “Last Monday, C. M. Taylor and family, Mrs. W. B. Peoples and children, Geo. D. Williams and family and Dan’l Buck, all of Carter county (sic for County), left on the vestibule for Ellerton, Washington, to reside permanently. This is taking from our section several good families, but what is our loss is Washington’s gain, and The Comet wishes them a long life of happiness and plenty in their new home.”

As used above, a vestibule was located at the end of a railway passenger car; it was an enclosed entrance.

“’Wat’ Belton is at home with the mumps. He came home from Tullahoma last week.”
