Thursday, April 26, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, The Comet reported “We learn with indignation and horror that the Hon. Bob Taylor, the most melodious man that ever tickled catgut and the sweetest orator and lecturer in Tennessee, was robbed of $300 in Texas the other day. The arts cannot prosper beneath the beams of the Lone Star if crimes like this are permitted. The state of Texas should apologize. Give back his money to the missionary of the masses.” This information was initially reported in the New York Sun.
