Friday, April 6, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, The Journal and Tribune reported news with a dateline from Johnson City and a date from April 5. Readers learned the exciting news that “The marriage of Miss Edith Wilder, daughter of Gen. Jno. T. Wilder, to Mr. Arthur Hoyt Scott, took place at the residence of Mrs. T. A. Stratton, sister of the bride, at 8 o’clock Wednesday evening.

“The house decorations were exquisite and tasteful and the happy young people were the recipients of many hearty congratulations. A large gathering of friends, besides the immediate families of the bride and groom were present. Mr. and Mrs. Scott left at once for an extended bridal tour, embracing Canada, San Francisco, the Hawaiian and Samoan Islands, and Australia, returning by way of Europe.”
