Johnson City happenings
Sunday, August 17, 1930: Ninety-five years ago today, the Johnson City Chronicle, combined with the Johnson City Staff-News, reported several interesting society articles. Some of them were as follows: “Last evening, Miss Mary Davis entertained with a dancing party at her home, Sunset Hill, in special compliment to two popular summer visitors, Miss Eunice Wilkerson, of Old Fort, N. C., house guest of Miss Hope Poteat, and Mr. Henry Day, of Roanoke, Va., guests of Miss Evelyn Hunt.
“The reception suite was decorated with quantities of summer flowers. During intermissions of the merry dance, iced punch was served to the guests who numbered about forty intimate friends of the hostess.
