Wednesday, July 6, 1930: Ninety-five years ago today, the Johnson City Chronicle reported short items of social interest. Among them were the following: “Neighbors Smalling and Neighbor Will Cooper and wife will entertain with a weinie roast Wednesday from four to ten o’clock near the bridge on Smalling’s River. The guest list will include the Royal Neighbors and the Modern Woodmen. They are all urged to come.”
“Mr. Feb Hunter and Mr. Floyd Lockett had as their guest on the Fourth of July at their summer home ‘Boone Lodge’ the following: Mr. and Mrs. Grover Hixon and little daughter, Jane, Mr. E. C. Lockett, Misses Mary, Pearl and Ethelyn Lockett, Mrs. Dan Wexler, Miss Hattie Mae Hannah and Miss Emma Smith, Miss Eleanor Stover and Mrs. Norborn Smith of Bristol.”
