Friday, March 2, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, The Knoxville Sentinel reported news with a dateline from Johnson City. Readers learned that “Yesterday was cold and snowy here. Heavy winds prevailed all day and night.”

“C. C. Collins, Esq., of Elizabethton, was here last night, on his way to his home.”

The Knoxville Sentinel is now published as the Knoxville News-Sentinel.

Monday, March 2, 1925: One hundred years ago today, the Johnson City Staff-News reported news from the Martha Wlder (sic for Wilder) School. Miss Campbell taught the 1-A Class. Readers learned that “The 1-A class made an attendance average of 96.4 last week, which entitled them to fifteen minutes off on Friday, but as one of the little boys remarked, ‘Joe got a lazy fit, and knocked us out of our fifteen minutes by being tardy.’”
