Thursday, June 15, 1775: As I did yesterday, today I am continuing with the occasional post from two hundred and fifty years ago, and the countdown to America’s Semiquincentennial, or the Bisesquicentennial. Let’s take a look at what happened two hundred and fifty years ago today: “On June 15, 1775, the Continental Congress votes to appoint George Washington, who would one day become the first American president, the commander of the colonies' first official army. Four days later, he accepts the assignment and signs his commission.
