Monday, May 25, 1925: A century ago today, the Johnson City Staff-News reported several short news accounts, featuring area residents. Some of these news accounts were as follows: “Mrs. J. A. Cargille, Mrs. W. G. Smith and Mr. McLinn Smith motored to North Carolina Sunday.”

“Miss Embree Slack, of Bristol, and Misses Louise and Kathleen Wagner, of Mountain City, are expected to arrive this week to be the guests of Miss Marjorie London on West Holston avenue (sic for Avenue).”

Mountain City, Tennessee is about 44 miles northeast of Johnson City. It is located in Johnson County.

“Miss Margaret Parsons is visiting Mrs. Eugene Parsons at the home of Mrs. Parson’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Cuthbert Crockett in Atlanta, Georgia.”

“Mis. Llewelyn French, of Tampa, Fla., arrives Tuesday to be the guest of Miss Florence Summers on West Watauga avenue (sic). Mrs. French is a member of the Thompson-Summers wedding party.”
