Wednesday, February 23, 1916: The Johnson City Staff reported sad news: “Ruby Lynn, the six-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Mike Webb, who reside five miles east of Bluff City, and who died Monday, was buried on yesterday. Daisy Dean, the eight-year-old daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Webb, is not expected to live. Pneumonia fever, which was the cause of the former’s death, is also causing the illness of the latter. Mike Webb is a brother of Messrs. Hugh and John Webb of this city.”
