Friday, March 30, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, The Knoxville Sentinel reported news with a dateline from Johnson City. Readers learned that “The democrats (sic for Democrats) of the city are discussing the coming mass convention, to be held at Jonesboro next Monday, April 2. From what can be gathered, this county favors H. H. Gouchenour, of Greeneville, for delegate from the First Congressional District, to the national Democratic convention, and Robt. Burrow, Esq., of Johnson City, for elector for this district.
