Friday, January 22, 1926: A century ago today, the Johnson City Staff-News reported that “William Garringer, who is yet to be named, is announced as the newly arrived, seven-pound son of Mr. and Mrs. M. X. Garringer, at eleven o’clock, Friday morning, January twenty-second, at the Appalachian Hospital. Mrs. Garringer was formerly Miss Hilda Gasteiger, of Johnson City.”
