Monday, April 24, 1775: Two hundred and fifty years ago today, according to the Boston Tea Party Ships and Museum website, “ Word of the Lexington Alarm would arrive in New York City as it traveled to its final destination in Philadelphia. The speed with which the letter arrived allowed the militia of the other colonies to rally to Boston's aid, amassing a large army to lay siege to the occupied city.”

Friday, April 24, 1925: A century ago today, the Johnson City Chronicle reported tragic news. According to the newspaper, “John C. Morgan, about 35 years of age, conductor on a local freight train on the Clinchfield railroad (sic for Railroad), died in a hospital here Thursday might at 9:25 o’clock, as a result of injuries received when run over by a loaded stock car at Unicoi, about six o’clock in the evening. The body was taken in charge by the Allied Uertaking (sic for Undertaking) Company at Erwin, and returned to that city for funeral and burial.
