Tuesday, July 10, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, the Knoxville Sentinel reported news with a dateline from Johnson City. Readers learned that “Heavy rains fell south of the town yesterday and it is not as hot as it has been for a few days past. The thermometer stood at 100 last Saturday.”

“Wheat now being thrashed in this county shows a good yield and the main crop is the largest for several years. Corn looks well in every part of the county.”

“W. C., Robert, James and Enloe Dyer, sons of John A. Dyer, are all at home on account of the serious illness of their father.”
