Friday, January 16, 1925: A century ago today, the Johnson City Staff-News reported that “A young man by the name of Culver, about 28 years old, was taken to the jail at Jonesboro yesterday charged with an attempted assault upon a young girl by the name of Oliver, in the Indian Ridge section on Tuesday. He was bound over to court after a preliminary hearing before a magistrate, under a bond of $5,000, which he failed to make and was committed to jail.
