The Monday Club, a POW held in Johnson City, Al Capone and "Get Involved!" featuring Jimmy Carter
Thursday, January 9, 1890: The Comet reported several short news accounts of interest to local folks. Among them were the following: “W. P. Harris, general superintendent of the Three C’s road with headquarters in Johnson City, has moved his family here. He has purchased the Colonel Yocum dwelling on Second avenue (sic for Avenue) and will take possession in a few days.”
Second Avenue is now known as Fairview Avenue.
“Roan street (sic for Street) is being opened and widened and as soon as it is graded and the creek bridged so wagons can cross the railroad, it will be one of the most important streets in the city. The corporation should see to it that it is put in condition at once.”
