Friday, April 23, 1926: A century ago today, the Johnson City Staff-News reported that “Members of the city council are working out a revision of the local traffic ordinances, designed to delivere (sic for deliver) traffic congestion in thebusiness (sic for the business) district, an important part of which is to be regulation of movement of cars on Buffalo, Tipton and Spring streets (sic for Streets); and including also a speeding up of traffic on East Main street (sic for Street), and the outing of traffic in certain lanes so as to minimize accidents, speed the movement of cars, and reduce congestion.
