Wednesday, January 7, 1925: A century ago today, the Johnson City Staff-News alerted readers that “Blueprints and maps of Johnson City for the various purposes are now being made by Commissioner Coe, some of which are completed and others are to be made available for issue at an early date.

“A complete map of Johnson City, showing the streets, business houses, railroads, etc., on an accurate scale is being prepared; and will be generally welcomed since it has been remarked a number of times that no accurate map of the city in its entirety has ever been available for distribution to the public. A number of maps have been made in the past, some on an elaborate scale; but those connected with the city have explained that growth and changes have occurred so rapidly in the past that by the time a map is issued, the city has outgrown it. A number of sectional maps have been issued, showing the sub-divisions and certain portions of the city.
