Sunday, June 10, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, The Chattanooga Sunday Times reported several short news accounts, all with a dateline from Johnson City and a date of June 9. Readers were informed that “Mrs. George T. Wolford has returned from a visit to Alabama relatives.”
“J. W. Cardwell is here for a day or two from North Carolina.”
“Fred Brown is spending a few weeks at Unaka Springs.”
Unaka Springs is located near Erwin.
“Johnson City Ice is now being sold on the market.”
“A large congregation listened to a splendid sermon by Rev. J. A. Lord, of Cincinnati, O., at the Christian Church Sunday evening.”
“Mrs. C. S. Long and two daughters, of Syracuse, N. Y., are in the city to spend the summer with Dr. E. A. Long and his family.”
“H. H. Crouch and wife and J. P. Crouch, of McKinney, Tex., arrived in the city Monday and are visiting relatives near Flourville.”
