Sunday, November 25, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, the Chattanooga Daily Times reported several short items of interest in a column entitled “Social News of Near-By Towns”. Some of the items with a dateline from Johnson City and a date of November 24 follow; in addition, some of the items originally appeared in a slightly different form in a different column. “Prof. J. T. Henderson, president of Carson and Newman college (sic for College), made a short address on ‘Missions’ at the First Baptist church (sic for Church) Tuesday. Dr. A. J. Holt, of Nashville, read an interesting essay on ‘Baptists and the Bible’.”
