Wednesday, April 8, 1925: A century ago today, the Johnson City Chronicle reported that “Johnson City’s seven councilmen are to hold their first meeting this afternoon at the Municipal Building, it was announced yesterday. The four new councilmen, named to act with the present three commissioners were formally sworn in by Magistrate J. W. Crumley at his office on Tuesday evening, and certificates of their qualification prepared for filing with the recorder.
