Continuing to catch up....
Wednesday, March 10, 1926: A century ago today, the Johnson City Chronicle reported that “The month of March was ushered in with a roar. A roar not merely from the standpoint of the weather which was felt and observed by all, but from the view of the beginning of the busiest part of the year. Even the effect of it was carried to the youngsters, for with March comes the strong, rushing winds and with the thought of winds comes suggestive to the minds of the young boys the fun of kite time. The sky is dotted with kites of every form, make or description, from the little hard kite to the huge structure of some complex (indecipherable) of box kite, each controlled on the earth and by the hands of some buoyant youngster, thrilled and exultant at having the power of guiding with such a small medium as the string the actions of the kite seen through a haze of blue sky in the distance.
