Lots of things happening in lots of places
June 29, 1775: Two hundred and fifty years ago today, according to www.army.mil, The Continental Congress authorized one chaplain for each regiment of the Continental Army, and chaplains have served in every American war since. Chaplains provide services for the religious and spiritual needs of the military, and they advise commanders and staff on religious and counseling matters. The Chaplain Corps wants to nurture the living, care for the wounded, and honor the fallen.”
Sunday, June 29, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, The Chattanooga Sunday Times reported several short news items with a dateline from Johnson City and a date from July 28. Some of the items are as follows: “Mrs. Glen T. Williams and Mrs. W. F. Givens, of Milligan, are entertaining Mrs. J. Givens, of Midway, Ky., Mrs. Mullane, of Versailles, and Mrs. Dr. W. S. Barker, of Bristol.”
