A pounding, Mayne Williams Library and the Monday Club and much, much more
Thursday, November 5, 1925: A century ago today, the Johnson City Staff-News reported that “An old fashioned ‘pound party’ was given by members of the Unaka Avenue Baptist church (sic for Church), for Rev. L. L. Murray, at his home on 311 East Holston avenue (sic for Avenue), on Wednesday evening. While at the home, the mid-week prayer service of the church was conducted there.”
