A tragic shooting and news from Washington College
Thursday, November 12, 1925: A century ago today, the Johnson City Staff-News carried tragic news. Readers learned that “Clyde Williams Hendrix, 28, cashier of the Franklin State Bank here, was the victim of a tragic accident about 7:45 o’clock this morning at his home in Milligan, four miles south of here, when his death resulted from the accidental discharge of a shot gun which he was placing in his automobile. He was rushed to the Appalachian Hospital at Johnson City, where he died in a few minutes after arriving; the gun having been discharged into the center of his abdomen.
