Thursday, June 18, 1925: One hundred years ago today, the Johnson City Chronicle reported that “Two young men, Ray Crowder and Ludy Furches, found in a box car in Johnson City, with seven chickens (indecipherable) booty, weer (sic for were) located by Officer Howell Tuesday evening, and on questioning admitted that they had stolen them from a party in Unicoi County.
