Monday, January 15, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, The Knoxville Sentinel reported several news accounts that were of interest to local readers. Some of the news accounts, all with datelines from Johnson City, are as follows: “News reached this city today that R. A. Ross, the well known (sic for well-known) railroad contractor, was fatally injured by the premature dynamite explosion of a blast, near Casey’s camp (sic for Camp), on the O., R. & C. railway (sic for Railway).
