Monday, May 21, 1900: One hundred and twenty-five years ago today, the Knoxville Sentinel reported news with a dateline from Johnson City. Readers were informed that “There is a fitness in all blessings. Last week we had the conference of the M. E. Church, South, composed of noble, earnest men, while this week, May 25th, this city will have in her midst the meeting of the democratic congressional convention of the First District of Tennessee.”
