Tennessee Silk Mill fire, area births and a Hilltopper win
Tuesday, February 19, 1935: Ninety years ago today, Johnson City Chronicle readers were informed that “Between 125 and 150 employes of the Tennessee Silk Mill, west (sic for West) Market street (sic for Street), were given a temporary ‘vacation’ last night at 8:30 o’clock when the main switch box burned, forcing suspension of all operations.
